Utah Voter Eligibility Requirements

You must register before you can vote in Utah.

You are eligible to vote in Utah if you meet all of the following requirements:

  • You are a citizen of the United States.
  • You a resident of Utah for at least 30 days.
  • You are at least 18 years of age on Election Day.

You cannot register to vote in Utah if:

  • You are currently incarcerated for a felony conviction

Utah Registration ID Requirements

When you register to vote, you will be asked to provide your Utah driver’s license number or state ID card number. 

You may provide your Social Security number if you do not have one of these numbers. Voters without a Social Security number are asked to give their place of birth or the place and date of their naturalization.

Election officials will match your information to state records to confirm residency. If they can’t do so or need more information, you may be contacted.

The deadline to register online or by mail is 11 days before the election.

College students are allowed to vote using their Utah school residence address. You can decide if you prefer to register in your home state or in Utah if you attend school there. You may only be registered and vote in one location.

You can use a student photo ID if it meets Utah’s voter ID requirements.
