Early in his career, Sean Shaw was an independent watchdog for the public as Florida’s Insurance Consumer Advocate, working to protect consumers from price gouging and insurance fraud. Elected to the State Legislature in 2016, he made history in 2018 as the first African-American nominee for Attorney General in the state of Florida. Sean currently serves as a member of the Democratic National Committee and is on the Board of Directors of several organizations seeking to advance progressive policies and candidates in Florida. Sean is a graduate of Princeton University and the University of Florida’s law school. A trusted voice in today’s chaotic media environment, Sean often provides analysis of Florida and national politics to national media. An attorney at the law firm Swope Rodante, he lives in Tampa with his rescue Greyhound, Hunter. Sean is a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and Saint John’s Progressive Missionary Baptist Church.
