Lauren Kunis

President, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director

Lauren Kunis has dedicated her career to strengthening democracy through voter education, civic engagement, and government accountability programs. As CEO and Executive Director of VoteRiders since 2021, she has led the organization through unprecedented growth in addressing the increasingly crucial issue of voter ID. In 2024, TIME Magazine named her one of its inaugural Democracy Defenders, and she was recognized in the first Democracy Heroes cohort by the Rockefeller Foundation, I am a Voter, and HeadCount.

Previously, as National Voter Registration Day program director at Nonprofit VOTE, the campaign achieved record-breaking voter registrations in 2020 under her leadership. Lauren’s experience spans work with the National Democratic Institute and World Bank across 15 countries, as well as roles in national electoral campaigns and local government and advocacy campaigns.

Lauren holds a BA in Government from Cornell University and an MPA from NYU. Above all, Lauren considers raising her two young children to be kind people and future voters to be her most important work.
