DeVonte Yates passed away suddenly on March 6, 2025.

DeVonte Yates was VoteRiders’ Wisconsin Organizer a Milwaukee native who was deeply committed to his city and its people. He had a strong background in case management and community engagement, having worked previously as a Reentry Case Manager at Ross Innovative Employment Solutions and as a Customer Service Representative at the Milwaukee Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Earlier in his career, he was a field organizer with Wisconsin Jobs Now. DeVonte was currently working towards his Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work from Concordia University-Wisconsin and aimed to pursue a Master’s degree upon completion. Outside of community organizing and work, he enjoyed traveling and spending time with family.
