Registering to vote is not enough! Voters must also make sure they have the ID required in their state. Every state has different rules.
More than 25 million voting-age citizens don’t have a current government-issued photo ID. Most impacted: Black and Latino Americans, young people (ages 18-24), women, people with disabilities, and Americans over 65.
In a normal election year, many voters are uncertain about what is required in their states. This year, voter ID rules are changing every day due to COVID-19.
Voter confusion easily leads to disenfranchisement. Without clarification, millions of registered voters won’t vote. Even if they do already have the ID they need!
