Yes, North Carolina allows you to register and vote on the same day during the early voting period.
Voters can register (or update their registration) and vote in person at any early voting site in their county. Same-day registration is not available on Election Day.
You must present proof of residency with your name and current address. Accepted proof of residency includes:
- North Carolina driver’s license or state ID card
- Photo ID issued by US, North Carolina, or local government
- Copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document
- Student living on campus can provide a document issued by their school listing their name and on-campus housing address (Note: some schools may provide the county board of elections with a list of student residing in campus housing)
You also need to show a photo ID that is accepted for voting.
The deadline to register online or by mail is 25 days before Election Day.
