VoteRiders is the nation’s leading organization focused on voter ID education, advocacy, and assistance — providing free help to anyone who needs an ID to cast a ballot.
VoteRiders was founded in response to the growing number voter ID laws across the country. Our goal is to share clear information and offer direct help to all voters in the face of these confusing and restrictive new rules.
Since 2012, VoteRiders has worked with tens of thousands of voters one-on-one to make sure they have an ID, and helped millions more confirm what they need to vote with confidence.
This toolkit gives an overview of how VoteRiders can help voters access trusted ID information and individualized help. It also gives insight into how you and your organization can partner with us.
Our free ID-focused tools and services help partner organizations address voter ID issues in whatever way makes the most sense for them and the communities they serve.
VoteRiders offers a wide range of options for our diverse partner organizations that can help you meet your goals while letting us do the voter ID work for you! Our goal is to provide tools, services, and resources that are customizable, accessible, and user-friendly.

We print and ship them free to to non-profit and non-partisan organizations. Click here to order! Print files are also available for download by political or for-profit organizations.
Each state-specific Voter ID Information Card lists all accepted forms of voter ID and any alternative options for voters. The cards also highlight how VoteRiders can help voters get IDs, share our Helpline number, and direct them to our website for more information.
A few ways partners have distributed Voter ID Info Cards to their communities: adding to canvassing packets, placing at local businesses (like coffee shops, barber shops, and beauty salons), stapling to pizza boxes, handing out at tabling events, including in food assistance packages, providing at city clerk’s offices and local ID-issuing offices, placing them in reception or waiting areas.

Voter ID is a key piece of the puzzle when it comes to voter education. VoteRiders collaborates with partners to develop co-branded materials such as door hangers, yard signs, posters,
pamphlets, flyers, and more.
VoteRiders staff are happy to lead presentations and trainings on voter ID or to participate in conferences, webinars, or panels organized by partners.
We also offer partner trainings that highlight our voter ID tools and services and how they can be incorporated into your programming.
Our trainings are available in person or online. They can be tailored for your program needs and audience. The focus can be on your state’s voter ID law or we can provide a national overview of the voter ID landscape. They are great for staff, volunteers, canvassers, coalitions, or the general public.
Whether you’re knocking doors, making calls, or sending texts — it’s easy to add voter ID to the outreach you are already doing! The VoteRiders staff can review your voter contact scripts, pledge cards, and other outreach materials to help insert simple and effective voter ID language.
Partner organizations who directly contact voters (including in-person and digital organizing work) often send us lists of voters that they have identified as needing voter ID assistance.
VoteRiders follows up with these voters to address any ID questions or assistance needs. This includes guiding them through (and paying for) the process of applying for and obtaining the ID and underlying documents they need to vote where they live.
We keep partners updated on the results of our outreach efforts to any voters they have referred while ensuring the utmost data privacy and security.
