Arizona voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls cast a conditional provisional ballot.

To make your provisional ballot count: 

  • Return to your polling place with an accepted ID by 7:00 pm on Election Day.
  • Present an accepted ID to your county recorder by the cure deadline (November 10).

Voters who cast a provisional ballot without conditions do not need to take further action.

 


 

Arkansas

Arkansas voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

To make your provisional ballot count: 

Present an accepted photo ID to your county election commissioner or county clerk. The deadline for returning with your ID is the Monday after Election Day (November 11).

 


 

Colorado

Colorado voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

Your provisional ballot will count if: 

  • You complete and sign the provisional ballot affidavit when you cast your ballot.
  • Election officials confirm your eligibility to vote

 


 

Florida

🗓️ Deadline: Thursday, November 7 @ 5 pm   

Florida voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

Your provisional ballot will count if: 

  • Your signature on the Provisional Ballot Certificate matches the signature on your voter registration record.
  • You are registered and voting in the correct precinct.

If your signature does not match your voter registration record, you need to prove your identity to your county’s Supervisor of Elections.

You can do this by providing one of the following:

  • Florida driver’s license number
  • Florida state ID card number
  • Last 4 digits of your Social Security number

You must prove your identity by 5 pm on the second day after the election (November 7).

 


 

Georgia

Georgia voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

To make your provisional ballot count: 

Present an accepted photo ID at your county registrar’s office within 3 days of the election (November 8). 

 

 


 

Hawaii 

Hawaii voters have several options for confirming their identity. ID is not required to vote in person or by mail.

If you are asked for ID by a poll worker and cannot present one, you might be asked to recite your name, address, and date of birth.

The information you provide will be compared to the information in the poll book. If it does not match, you will be required to sign a written affirmation (confirming your address and date of birth) and vote a provisional ballot. County election officials will review your ballot and determine you were eligible to vote. 

 


 

Indiana

Indiana voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

To make your provisional ballot count: 

Provide your elections office with an accepted photo ID or sign an affirmation that one of Indiana’s exceptions applies to you. The deadline for returning with your ID is 10 days after the election 

Exceptions include: indigent voters, voters who have religious objections to being photographed, and voters who live in a state-licensed facility that serves as their polling place.

 


 

Kansas

Kansas Voter ID Requirements

Kansas voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

To make your provisional ballot count: 

Provide an accepted photo ID before the county canvass. You can submit your ID to your county elections office in person, by mail, or electronically. 

Counties may canvass on the Monday following the election or on Thursday the following week.

There is an exception for voters who have religious objections to being photographed. You must sign a Declaration of Religious Objection.


 

Mississippi

Mississippi voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot (called an “affidavit ballot”). 

To make your affidavit ballot count: 

Present an accepted photo ID at your circuit clerk’s office within 5 days of the election.

There is an exception for voters who have religious objections to being photographed. You must sign an Affidavit of Religious Objection.


 

Missouri

Missouri voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

Your provisional ballot will count if: 

  • You return to your polling place and present accepted photo ID on Election Day.
    or 
  • Your signature on your provisional ballot envelope matches the signature on your voter registration record.

 


 

Nebraska

Nebraska voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

To make your provisional ballot count: 

Voters who completed and signed a reasonable impediment exception at the polls do not need to take further action.

All other provisional voters must present an accepted photo ID to their county election commissioner or county clerk. The deadline for returning with your ID is the Tuesday after the election (November 12).

 


 

North Carolina

North Carolina voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

All other provisional voters must present an accepted photo ID to their  county board of elections office. The deadline for returning with your ID is the second Thursday following the election (November 14).

 


 

North Dakota

North Dakota voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must will have their ballots set aside.

  • Present an accepted ID to your municipal clerk’s office by the cure deadline (November 8).

 

Ohio

Ohio voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

To make your provisional ballot count: 

Present an accepted photo ID at your county board of elections within 4 days of the election (November 9).

There is an exception for voters who have religious objections to being photographed. You must sign an affidavit of religious objection and provide the last 4 digits of your Social Security number.


 

Tennessee

Tennessee voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

Voters who completed and signed a ID exemption affidavit do not need to take further action.

All other provisional voters must present an accepted photo ID to their  county’s election commission office. The deadline for returning with your ID is 2 business days after the election (November 7).

 


 

Texas

Texas voters who don’t bring ID or have their ID rejected at the polls must cast a provisional ballot.

To make your provisional ballot count: 

Voters who completed and signed a reasonable impediment declaration at the polls do not need to take further action.

All other provisional voters must visit their county’s voter registration office within 6 calendar days of the election (November 11).

You can either:

  • Present an accepted photo ID.
  • Sign a reasonable impediment declaration and present a supporting form of ID.
  • Submit a temporary affidavit (due to religious objection or natural disaster) or qualify for permanent disability exemption

 


 

Utah
