FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — A non-partisan group known as VoteRiders is making certain North Carolina’s new voter ID law doesn’t keep people at home this election cycle.

VoteRiders is going to communities across the state, including Fayetteville, to assist people with getting a state ID. Organizers said many people don’t have an ID because they are financially struggling and don’t have the extra funds for the documents needed to get one, such as a birth certificate.

“We will pay for birth certificates, social security cards, those documents that folks need to get a state ID,” said Jenny McKenney with VoteRiders. “We’ll get them appointments to get those documents and their ID or driver’s license, as well as offer transportation through rideshare where they are available.”
