BLOOMBERG: After the Fundraising Zooms Comes the Real Work

Volunteers from a synagogue in Boston recently beamed in to a restaurant in Georgia to help people obtain the IDs they need to work and vote, an ongoing effort coordinated by the nonpartisan, nonprofit VoteRiders. On Monday night, the same organization had 220 people from all over the country on a Zoom, sending 250,000 texts to voters in Arizona on the eve of the state’s primary…

“Volunteering is a socioeconomic privilege, and the cost of doing so is dramatically lowered when you don’t have to travel across the country,” says VoteRiders CEO Lauren Kunis, 42. But, she cautioned, “virtual platforms are one tool in our toolbox. We can’t have it be the only tool.”
